August 18, 2005: We have a team and now we have a name. The Nebraska Bombers will be taking to the skies
of the NFL in 2006. Nebraska NFL has announced that they will be known as the Bombers. The name pays homage
to the military history of Nebraska, which includes the Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue. Offutt
was also the birthplace of the Enola Gay, the first bomber to ever use atomic weapons. The name also fits in well
with the sport of football, as in the wide open NFL you can expect to see a lot of "bombs" in the air in Nebraska games next
season. The logos were designed by Brian Gundell of G2 Squared Designs. Stay tuned to the Bombers
website for more updates.
